Message from the President
Since the founding members united in 1982 COCA has reached out to other organizations throughout the world who also believe that a camping experience will enrich the lives of children with cancer. I remember attending the first COCA Conference in 1984 in Chicago, Illinois. The information others shared with our camp was immeasurable – policies, procedures, medical needs and traditions. Learning, sharing and advocating. Although our organization now impacts camps throughout the world, our mission is as focused today as it was in 1982: To strengthen the international community of camps for children with cancer and their families through networking, advocacy, and education.
Our vision is to be the leader in serving camps for children with cancer and their families. I hope our members and friends will find COCA-I a resource for professionals, volunteers and families; a network of friends in the community of pediatric oncology and camping; and, an organization of member camps striving for excellence in serving children with cancer and their families.
Welcome to our website. Please learn about our organization, our annual conference and our member camps. If you would like to learn more about COCA-I or ways to become involved please contact us. To our members, please use the resources on this website and the opportunities to connect with each other often. Thank you for your commitment to children with cancer and their families.
Sally J. Hale COCA-I President
