Strategic Planning Task Force Volunteer Job Description

COCA recently completed a strategic planning process which identified four (4) plans. It is now time to develop and formulate the ideas so we can successfully put them in motion.  We are looking to put task forces together for each plan. We need individuals who have a particular set of skills, to work in these groups. Each Task Force will have up to six (6) people to work on each plan.

 

The Plans are:

  • Messaging
  • Governance
  • Fundraising
  • Education

Desired Task Force Skill Sets for Each Plan:

COCA desires to have people with unique skills and experiences to work on each Task Force. 

Examples of desrired skillsets for each Task Force are listed below, but not limited to the following:

Messaging Task Force

  • Copyrighting experience to assist with helping us formulate the correct messages to describe who COCA is today.
  • Ability to express mission, vision and values through storytelling
  • Marketing background
  • PR/Communications background

Governance Task Force

  • Nonprofit professional who has experience in working with Board of Directors. These people could have experience in running a nonprofit business outside of their nonprofit Camp. Examples could include:
  • CEO’s
  • Executive Director’s

Fundraising Task Force

  • Grant writer,
  • Development director
  • Experience in donor development, retention and
  • Developing long-term fiscal plans for an organization.

Education Task Force -  The ultimate goal of our Education Plan will be to build a learning center 

  • Pediatric oncology medical professional(s)
  • Child life specialists
  • Social workers,
  • Child psychologists, etc. 

Composition of Task Force(s)

    • 2 current board members.
    • 2 outside experts who may or may not be represented within COCA membership.
    • COCA Past Presidents have a vested interest in COCA
    • Executive Director will be a member of each task force and other admin staff will be assigned to task force’s.

Task Force Expectations:

    • The Task force should establish a timeline to work from.
    • Once assigned to Task Force, each member should be able to work independently on particular areas, formulate ideas that can be discussed in the group.
    • The Task Force may be able to communicate effectively thru email to determine outcomes/decisions for areas within their assigned task.
    • Be available once a month for a one-hour face-to-face Zoom call with Task Force to discuss ideas/decisions exchanged through emails and then make final decisions as a group.

Task Force Timelines:

Some of these plans could take up to 6 months to develop- ie-Messaging. Governance and Fundraising could take much longer. This Strategic Plan is for 2022-2024.
